Massive Pipes for Watchgate
Richard Thomson11/01/2002
Watchgate Map
The largest diameter pipes to be installed on a treatment works in Biwater's history are being installed on the Watchgate Water Treatment Works project. The massive pipes were recently photographed at the premises of manufacturer Moorside Metals Limited in Stockport. Measuring 2.4m diameter they are part of the connection between the Haweswater Aqueduct and the inlet works to the treatment plant. These pipes are the first part of a manufacturing run of the same diameter pipe eventually totalling 145m in distance. The pipes are now on-site ready for installation. Pictured with some of the contract team are Bernard Armstrong and Trevor Bland the Managing Director of Moorside Metals.
